Invasive Species Plant or animal species introduced to a new area are called non-native, or exotic, and when they rapidly colonize new areas, they are considered invasive. The prevalence of invasive species is correlated with our global trading activities which disrupt our freshwater and forest ecosystems. A widely known invasive plant Prosopis juliflora known by locals as “Mathenge” and Water hyacinth is causing us to lose billions in agricultural land and fish production. Let’s join hands together to curb all exotic plants in collaboration with Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service “KEPHIS”. Please suggest ideas to deal with these problems.
